With the recent-ish change to their pledge system and with the still ongoing mystery regarding their algorithms plus the possibility that WEBTOONS might intentionally be working against small time creators, my question is why even bother hosting your comic over there? And even if you have a good comic that does well on there, the current atmosphere suggests blatant bias and favoritism on the part of staff for the popular creators who clearly aren’t affected by what’s been going with the site as of late to the detriment of everyone else. I for one don’t want to waste my time uploading pages of my comic over there if no one is reading them especially if LINE isn’t doing its part to help potential readers find my comic. I’ll just stick to Tapas where at least I’m notified when people like, sub, or comment on LoaA. If its really 0 or even minus than thats another story. Think about it on their end, there’s a DELUGE of content creators just like us, and they need to whittle them down to something that is gonna give back to them in terms of exclusive content and what not also people they can trust talking to and wont cut and run. Going featured and official isn’t for everyone, but there is still an audience to cultivate there to divert to other sites even when yr tiny, ideally you divert to your own website where you can control the ads and presentation of your comic. I personally enjoy being at webtoon cause there i have a small audience , here in tapas my only audience was other small creators who wanted subs , plus at webtoon i don’t get messages like come and sub to my comic etc, that’s why i deleted my comic from here but i like hanging around in the forums. The line webtoon’s discover was better i admit it but i still get a lot of new readers every time i update for me a lot is more than 2. With everything that is happening over on Youtube, I feel like is «Kick small creator’s in the butt» year. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t trust any company to look out for my best interests. That the rug can be pulled out from under me at any time. That’s why my goal is to become more independent of these sites. I’m currently saving up for my own domain name where I plan to place ads and have enough freedom to offer my work uncensored. If all goes well, I won’t need a patreon page. Just ad revenue from my site and hopefully some donators. However, I still have to build an audience for that to happen and places like Tapas, LINE, and Wattpad are where those readers are and I still have to entice them enough to click on my link. I would also advise looking into offering your comic on Amazon’s Kindle. With KDP Select you can get paid per page click and setting up an advertisement on their site is easy and cheap depending on how you want to advertise your comic.

When you take out the middle man — your profits are much higher, but, you have to invest more of your time writing your ad, taking photos, responding to potential buyers, and eventually meeting them in-person to make the transaction. So, when thredUP came onto the scene, I was excited to try them out. When I first started using thredUP , there were no fees to start selling, you just ordered a clean out kit and shipped it back. Now, they have some optional fees which I’ll explain below. When choosing your kit, you can either pick to donate your clothing or earn money from it. Once you have your kit, all you need to do is fill it with your gently-used items and ship it off to them. One thing I like about the thredUP process is they keep you in the loop, letting you know when they receive your bag and when they’re done processing it. Now if you choose the standard processing option — it can take a LONG time anywhere from 2 — 8 weeks has been my experience for them to process your bag. If you’re drawing all your life then you’re on the path to being a great artist. So don’t sweat the money right now. But it is nice to earn a few bucks on your sketches. I’ve done that when I was your age too. Pricing is determined by your quality of work and ultimately what others are willing to pay for it. It doesn’t matter if you can drawing something in 5 minutes or 5 hours, it’s all subjective when it comes to how much someone will pay for it. But, what you can do is test the market. Just do a drawing and price it at some dollar amount. If it sells fast, then you’re pricing it too low.
